‘Love Island feels too scripted, but Maya Jama is jaw-dropping,’ says Judi Love

Loose Women star Judi Love says she’s not bowled over by this year’s Love Island contestants, but she thinks the show’s host Maya Jama is “jaw-dropping”.

In her OK! column this week, Judi, 42, reveals: “The brand new series of Love Island kicked off with a bang last week!

“While there are some good-looking girls and guys in the line-up, I can’t lie, I can’t keep my eyes off Maya Jama!”

She adds: “When she strutted into the villa, my jaw dropped. She oozes flirty fun and I have no doubt she’s going to take the show by storm.

“The contestants’ conversations are feeling a bit scripted at the moment – they need to forget they’re on a TV show and have some fun!”

Maya, 28, made a show-stopping entrance as she arrived in the Love Island villa in South Africa for the first coupling last week.

She had a trio of jaw-dropping looks, including a revealing plunging red crochet co-ord, a bold green maxi dress and a sexy black cut-out dress.

Viewers were quick to compliment the host’s looks on social media.

One commented: “Maya Jama outshining the female contestants, fancy going in and having to stand next to her.”

Another said: “Step forward if you fancy Maya Jama’ as she stole the show next to the bikini clad singletons.” A third wrote: “Maya Jama slaying as always.”

Fans also joked the new presenter – who denied rekindling her romance with her ex rapper Stormzy at the end of last year – had already been in the villa more times than former host Laura Whitmore, 37, did during an entire series.

The following day, the Glow Up presenter posted some photos of herself behind the scenes on Instagram and captioned the post: “Overwhelmed from last night, thank you so much for your kind words..who’s ready for tonight’s episode?”

Actress Jameela Jamil commented: “Broke the internet. Broke the world,” while former Love Islander Molly-Mae Hague wrote: “Incredible.”

Before heading into the villa, contestant Tanya Manhengg said she was more excited about meeting Maya than she was about the boys.

She admitted: “I think I’m more excited for Maya Jama than anything else, honestly.

“I’m obviously excited for the boys, but Maya Jama is gonna be a babe.”

Maya was announced as the new host of Love Island in October after Laura Whitmore, who presented three series of the dating show – stepped down in August to pursue other projects, such as acting in supernatural thriller 2.22 A Ghost Story in London’s West End and her husband Iain Stirling’s new loosely autobiographical ITV show, Buffering.
